The C4C Community League had it’s first season from 2009-2010 and featured seven teams from the Ballymena, Ballyclare, and Newtownabbey areas. Set up for players at Under-13 level (Year 8 – Year 9 of secondary school), the Community League provides a vital next step for those coming out of our Development Centres.
From a coaching point of view, C4C views player development as a long term investment. Players starting out in our Development Centres at P3-P4 who stay on right through to Year 9 of secondary school will have received 6-7 years of coaching from our qualified coaches and staff . Our vision is to see these players gain the necessary skills and experience in order to progress even further within the sport.
The Community League we feel is the perfect setting in which players can develop. Our focus is not solely on the footballer but also on the child, and our ethos determines that no player should be excluded or discouraged from taking part and enjoying sport of any kind. Our training sessions at Under-13 level will push all players to progress in their own personal development, but at the same time encourage them to gain other valuable life and social skills.
Above all, the C4C Community League is driven by the coaches love for God and love for people. It has been set up and run for the purpose of sharing the Christian faith with all players that come through our teams. As with our Development Centre sessions, there is a “centre-spot” every time the players train where the coaches share something from the Bible with the teams, showing them God’s plan of salvation and what that means for them.
