I can hear you all now, wondering what on earth you are going to do without football for 2 or 3 months! The C4C season is over, along with every other league – but what a season we have had!

84 games, and 587 goals down the line, the title is won by 1 point, after runners-up Ballykeel FC are victorious over the league champions Ahoghill FC in the league’s final match. 3-0 the final score, with everyone in Ballykeel groaning about the 8-4 defeat down at Mossley Olympic’s “Cauldron”. Ahoghill FC 5-2 Ballyclare FC

Ahoghill knew coming into this match that a win would clinch the league title and therefore avoid a ‘winner take all’ final game of the season with Ballykeel.

Ahoghill began the game strongly and went 1-0 up after only 4 mins. Johnny Cummings received the ball on the left, beat the Ballyclare right back for pace and fired a shot across the Ballyclare goalkeeper and into the far bottom corner. It was the start Ahoghill had been hoping for. Ahoghill continued to control the game and soon after made it 2-0 when Connor Pogue beat a couple of defenders down the right hand side of the penalty box. He then crossed the ball into the box and when the Ballyclare defender and goalkeeper both missed the ball, Ryan Kennedy was there to tap the ball into an empty net. At this point Ahoghill were dominating the game with Jason Johnson and Thomas Fleming in particular, defending very well against any Ballyclare attacks. Ahoghill then made it 3-0 when Kyle Crawford played a great ball in behind the Ballyclare defence for Johnny Cummings to run onto and he crossed the ball into the box where Lee Scroggie met it and finshed well into the corner. Ballyclare FC 0-6 Ahoghill FC

This game was played at Dixon park in Ballyclare and it was Ahoghill who started brightly coming close with a few long range efforts. Kyle Crawford came close with a free kick that just went over the bar. Kyle Crawford then scored two goals that must be contenders for goal of the season, the first curled into the top left hand corner the second struck with power and accuracy into the top right, both strikes giving the keep no chance.
