C4C Season 2010-11
A new season has arrived for C4C! After a busy summer travelling around the country doing our summer camps, we have been preparing for the year ahead and are set to kick-off our Under-13 Community League for its second year, and continue to advance our Development Centres in each area.
C4C Under-13 Community League
After a highly successful season with our first league in 2009-10, we are continuing to work towards making it one the best around. A few changes have been made to the league since last year. There are now only 6 teams in the league, and these teams all have new names: CFC Ahoghill, CFC Ballyclare, CFC Ballykeel, CFC Cullybackey, CFC Fourtowns, and CFC Newtownabbey.
CFC stands for ‘Coaching For Christ’ so that no matter what competition our teams appear in, all may know that they are from C4C and are part of our coaching programs.
CFC Fourtowns is the new face on last year’s Ahoghill Youth, and CFC Newtownabbey is last year’s Mossley Olympic.
Again like last year, each team will play each other 4 times throughout the course of the season. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. On match days, each team is allowed to bring with them a squad of 14 players – a staring 11 and 3 substitutes. One change from last year will be that this season, ‘roll on, roll off’ substitutions will be allowed during a league game.
This year looks set to be a highly competitive league, and so players in training will have to train especially hard to be able to give their best performance on match days. The season kicks off on Saturday 18th September at 2:00pm, and is scheduled to finish on Saturday 9th April.
C4C Development Centres
Over the past few years, C4C has been working with primary school aged children not only in schools, but in 2 or 3 of our areas from which our Under-13 teams stem from. This year, each area which has its own Under-13 League team will also have their very own dedicated ‘C4C Development Centre’ for those in P4-P7 of primary school.
For the older age groups in our development centres, there will be a monthly tournament held against all other teams within C4C to provide an outlet in which the players can showcase their new skills. For the younger age groups friendly matches will be arranged throughout the year when possible.
The aim of our Development Centres is not only to develop the player’s footballing ability and skills, but also to develop them socially and spiritually, and to progress them through to the C4C Under-13 League team in their area.
More information to follow on training times for our League teams and Development Centres.
Summer Camp Report: Ballyclare & Braehill
Ballyclare
The week in Ballyclare was once again well attended. This year we spilt those taking part into three age groups: 6-8, 9-11 and 12-14. The younger age group played in the morning and the two older age groups played in the evenings. We would like to thank Ballyclare Secondary and Primary School for the use of their grounds. Each day the children took part in fun football orientated games, drills and matches, they also heard the Gospel message of the Lord Jesus Christ. All the children took part in the activities and listened well to the talks. On the Thursday it was World Cup day. The older groups played their World Cup at Dixon Park which the children really enjoyed and we would like to thank Ballyclare Commrades for the use of their revamped facilities. On the Friday night the children and parents were invited to Ballyclare Baptist Church for prizes, Gospel message and supper. We thank all that attended and made the week possible and the church for their help and support during the week.
Braehill
The week with Braehill Baptist was held at the Ballysillan Leisure Centre pitches for children ages 7-11. This was the first year a camp was held in Braehill and the children took part in the games and listened well to the Gospel message. The helpers from the Church were a great help throughout the week, they really got stuck in and this made it more fun for the children. Lily deserves a special mention for her outstanding goalkeeping display in the World Cup final which lead her team to victory!
On the Friday night the children and their parents were invited to the church for a prize giving and Gospel message.
Summer Camp Report: Kilkeel
The Coaching for Christ held their summer camp in Kilkeel from the 9th-12th August. Two coaching sessions were held each day. The P3-P5 age group from 10.30-12.30 and the P6-Form 3 age group from 2.30-4.30. There were 10 members in the team: Stephen Crawford, Stephen Blair, Matt McCausland, Andrew Harris, Kenny McDowell, Brian Parker, Jonny Martin, John Millar, Scott Murray and Craig Martin.
The team, minus Scott who arrived on Monday morning, left for Kilkeel on Sunday afternoon in time for their evening service at 7. The team were warmly received by the church and quickly settled into their new home. Read more
