Cullybackey FC 5-5 Glenabbey
A big thankyou to the boys from Glenabbey who travelled to Cullybackey on Saturday afternoon for this friendly match against C4C’s Cullybackey team. What a match it turned out to be with plenty of goals scored and a great comeback from Cullybackey who found themselves 4 down after the first half.Glenabbey took the lead early on when the impressive Michael Kerr scored the first with just ten minutes gone. Cullybackey started slowly and on 13 mins they were two down without reply with stand in keeper Alex Weir having no chance from a good finish by Scott Gault. Scott then grabbed his second on 20 mins just before Michael Kerr again showed his class finishing off another good moveto take the game into half time.
The second half was very different with Cullybackey coming back strongly. Calvin Purse scored their first after a great cross by John glover to spark a comeback. Kyle Crawford then smashed in a penalty and Calvin grabbed his second after latching on to a bad clearance and finishing well. Glenabbey were still strong and their no. 2 Ross scored with a long range effort only to see Kyle Crawford do the same at the other end fom all of 45yds! The game was now finely balanced and could have went either way but not for the first time this season Calvin Purse completed his hat trick to earn Cullybackey the draw.
Credit to both teams for a great game played in the right spirit on a glorious sunny day.
